Halloween is just around the corner...

And that means time to think about costumes!! Tutus make great costumes - and remain a fun dress up item long after the caramel corn goes stale :) Tutus can be made in any length and color combination for the perfect costume! Add embellishments such as ribbon streamers, pompoms, flowers, crystals, etc to create the ultimate custom costume that is sure to be unique!

Some ideas for tutus that you can easily pair with solid colored shirts, leotards and tights or leggings:

*Classic Ballerina (pinks)
*Punk Rocker (black, hot pink)
*Witch (black, purple, orange)
*Tinkerbell (lime green with purple ribbon streamers)
*Minnie Mouse (red with white poms for classic, or pink with white poms for modern)
*Ladybug (red with black poms)
*Classic Princess (pink or purple, or light blue)
*Cheerleader (team colors)
*Rainbow Bright (assorted rainbow colors with rainbow ribbon streamers)
*Pumpkin (orange with green ribbon streamers)
*Fairy (any color)
*Bumblebee (yellow, black)
*Flower (any color with rosette embellishments)
*Bride (white with tulle veil)

Contact me for a custom listing for any of these or other ideas you have - I would love to help you create a memorable Halloween for your little one with a custom tutu!

BabyCakes Creations is back!

After a wonderful maternity break getting to know my little man and figuring out the balance that goes with a newborn and a 2yr old, BabyCakes Creations is back and open for business. I will only be taking custom tutu orders while I get back in the swing of things, but bow holders are listed and more new items are coming soon! Here is a picture of my little guy, taken when he was just 1 week old - he is sure getting big fast, hard to believe he will be 4 months already next week!

Know what you are buying

Buyer Beware: many tutu makers use tulle that is made in Mexico (like from JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, etc). Not only is this tulle NOT flame retardant (think about your birthday girl in her tutu next to her birthday candles eek!), but it is also not certified lead free. Additionally the tulle is scratchy & rough. BabyCakes Creations uses ONLY made in the USA super soft certified lead free & flame retardant 100% nylon tulle - it costs quite a bit more to use this special order tulle but the quality is unsurpassed & I sleep well at night knowing I am offering a safe and well made product.

Shop closing for maternity leave April 30th!

As you may or may not know, we are expecting our second child (baby boy this time!) early/mid May. In preparation for his arrival and to give myself a little break before things gets very busy, I am taking orders now until April 30th and then will close shop for maternity leave. I am not sure exactly how long the shop will remain closed and will depend on how I am transitioning into a groove and balancing act with a toddler AND newborn. I may open the store slowly offering less time consuming items like bow holders and hats and then fully open with tutus again down the road... we will see how things go and take it one day at a time :)

Thank you for your business and I hope to be back in shop soon! We are very excited to meet our son and also a little nervous for the transition...I am so used to having a girly girl (and tutu model) - I think things will be a little different around here - but all good ultimately :)
